WorldWineryMap.com has officially launched, bringing a vast interactive database of global wine terroir that maps 4,307,699 vineyards and 103,795 wineries in 97 countries, including 14 wineries from Thailand. For every single vineyard on the map, users can view highly precise spatial data, including elevation, solar radiation, and slope, alongside key viticultural indicators such as soil composition, the Huglin index, and average temperatures during the vine growing season.

"For each parcel, we extracted the exact coordinates and calculated elevation, slope, and aspect using the Copernicus GLO-30 terrain model, and then we added climate data on top of that," said Matija Gavrilović, founder of World Winery Map. "For larger parcels, we measure up to 16 control points, which is why elevation is shown as a precise range rather than a single number. Where data was available, we also calculated slope, solar radiation, rainfall, wind, soil type, and geology."

The platform is expressly designed for industry professionals and wine travellers alike. An integrated geolocation system lets users instantly find nearby wineries and get directions to the estate, wherever they are in the world. For wine lovers who would rather explore from home, the platform offers a highly detailed virtual journey through the wine geography of the world.

The map outlines 98,719 wine area boundaries, from vast macro-regions down to individual named sites. These include 2,815 official wine regions, subregions, and appellations, as well as 95,904 named vineyard sites. Users can select any region, read key facts, view boundaries, check average rainfall and elevation, and analyse viticultural data such as the Winkler index. World Winery Map is already in contact with official bodies in several countries, with the aim of making the map as accurate as possible.

"Building a system on this scale required processing more than four million spatial polygons and precisely intersecting them with topographic and climate layers," the founder added. "The result is the most comprehensive digital archive of world viticulture ever made."

Winemakers from Thailand are invited to claim their winery profile on the platform free of charge. By claiming their page, producers can update tasting room hours, confirm their rules for visitors, claim their vineyard parcels, and enter data on the grape varieties they have planted, taking an active part in maintaining the most accurate and detailed wine map in the world.
